PROF. HERBERT KWABLA DEI
Professor Herbert Kwabla Dei is an agricultural scientist and Professor of Animal Nutrition. He is a Fulbright Senior African Research Scholar and published extensively in reputable journals and presented papers at both local and international conferences.
His academic career spans over 37 years with unparalleled service in critical leadership roles in a university environment. Prof. H. K. Dei is a former Head of Animal Science Department, Dean of Graduate Studies, Director of the Directorate of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance, and Director of Drylands Research Institute at the University of Development Studies, Tamale.
Over the past two (2) decades Prof. has Chaired and served on more than 40 Boards/Committees, and three (3) Governing Councils. He won several coveted grants, fellowships and awards from notable organizations such as World Bank, DFID, USAID, Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and GETFund etc. to pursue scholarly research with a far reaching impact on animal nutrition and production.
Prof. H. K. Dei is a proud alumni of Harper Adams University, UK, Kwame Nkrumah University Science and Technology, Ghana and University of Cape Coast, Ghana. He is a member of several professional Associations and served as the National President of Ghana Science Association, and his professional network(s) and impact through community engagements is quite remarkable. Prof. is a mentor, capacity building enthusiast, and his hobbies include fishing, and reading. He is married with two (2) children.
PERFORMANCE CONTRACT SIGN WITH THE RECTOR, PROF. H. K. DEI
The Governing Council of KAAF University College, acting in consultation with the Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of KAAF University College has appointed Prof. Herbert Kwabla Dei as the substantive Rector to steer the affairs of the University for a Tenure of 3 years. His appointment is expected to provide new ideas, energy and direction to ensure that KAAF attains presidential Charter within the period stipulated by the Education Regulatory Bodies Act, 2020, Act 1023. On Tuesday, September 20, 2022, a symbolic handing-over and performance contract signing ceremony took place between the Board of Directors and the Governing Council on one hand, and the New Rector and the University Management Team on the other. Signing on behalf of the Governing Council Prof. K. B. Omane-Antwi, who is serving a second term as the Chairman of highest decision-making body of KAAF University College, intimated that the key performance indicators set out in the agreement were carefully crafted with input from all stakeholders including the in-coming Rector.
In his conclusion, Prof. K. B. Omane-Antwi, a seasoned educator and a heavy-weight in policy regulation and financial sustainability of private/public tertiary institutions in Ghana stated that a Chartered University status will give KAAF the freedom to innovate and expand without exposing their strategies to mentor institutions, who are better resourced to implement those same strategies. He encouraged the university management team to lend the in-coming Rector their undivided support to elevate KAAF University College to an autonomous status as envisaged in the signed performance agreement.
On his part Prof. H. K. Dei, who took over from the stewardship of Dr. Michael Wombeogo, expressed his profound gratitude to the Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Governing Council for the confidence reposed in him and for granting him opportunity to serve and contribute his quota towards building an autonomous private institution of choice for prospective students from Ghana and neighboring countries. Prof. Dei also thanked his predecessors, the management, faculty and staff for working hard to make KAAF one of the leading private universities in Ghana now. He pledged to use every resource at his disposal to ensure not only the success of KAAF but also the personal and professional growth of the workforce.
